Communities of Interest

  • BARP - Bradford Anti-Racist Projects. 
  • Bradford GRID - The GRID is support from enterprising people to enterprising people. They provide the information and advice they introduce you to many others like you who are building their own business. The GRID is a network, driven by its members.
  • Bradford Kickstart - Bradford Kickstart is a Bradford Council service which aims to encourage people who might be thinking about going self-employed or maybe considering starting a small business and for those already trading they want to help you grow your business. 
  • Cnet - Community Network for the Bradford District. 
  • Consortia of Enthnic Minority Organisations - Coemo aims to establish a strong and viable black and ethnic voluntary sector within the district of Bradford which is an envy to the rest of the Country. 
  • i-cu - has been created to highlight the cultural arts events and activities by a number of district-wide African-Caribbean organisations. 
  • Just West Yorkshire - Campaigning for equality, access and justice. 
  • Kala Sangam - is a South Asian Arts company. Kala is Art and Sangam a meeting point. Kala Sangam has a mission of bringing people together through South Asian Arts and inter-disciplinary arts. This is done through the promotion and delivery of the many art forms from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh using music, dance, poetry/literature and creative writing, and visual arts and crafts from folk, classical and contemporary styles.
  • Sharing voices - Diversity in culture, faith and values. Sharing Voices recognises that for all people, but especially those from BME communities, understanding and coping with mental distress culture, faith, values and spiritual traditions play a central role. We encourage people to talk about these issues and enable them to engage with them in a meaningful manner. 

Diversity

  • District and Diversity & Inclusion Team - A relatively new team within Neighbourhood Support Service that leads, develops and promotes consultation across the District with communities that are not geographically based and also with new and emerging communities, to ensure all have fair access to public services. Through its endeavours, the team also supports the Council’s community cohesion work.
  • Bradford Race Review - Community Pride not Prejudice, making diversity work in Bradford.

Education

  • Bradford Schools e-portal. Diversity and Cohesion.  Their Mission Statement is to promote understanding of religious, ethnic and cultural diversity; affirming identity and recognising commonality for the benefit of Bradford's children, their families and the wider community. To treat each other with respect; to value each other and people's different skills and backgrounds. To promote equality and good relationships and challenge discrimination.
  • Centre for Learning Excellence - The strategy for learning in the Bradford District includes the development of the Centre for Learning Excellence to form the centrepiece of an approach to learning that places a high premium on quality and innovation. It will provide the opportunity for professionals to develop new approaches and share best practice.

  • Schools Linking Project - The Bradford Schools Linking Project is now in its sixth year and works with approximately 100 schools across the Bradford district. Their work is based on the premise that exploring and developing an understanding of who we are and where we live are fundamental to the health, safety, well-being and achievement of our young people and our district.

  • The STAR Centre in Keighley is a lively science hub that uses space as a theme to encourage young learners into undertaking science related subjects.

Government

  • B-EQUAL - Bradford's equality employment project is no longer running but the web site has some useful links and resources.
  • Bradford Met - City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council. 
  • Bradford Neighbourhood Support Services. Consisting of five Area Offices and a central District, Diversity and Inclusion Team, the Service provides the opportunity for residents to help improve the quality of life of people living in their neighbourhoods and the district as a whole.
  • Bradford Trident - Bradford Trident is the community led company working to transform the Park Lane, Marshfields and West Bowling areas of Bradford. 
  • Bradford Vision - Bradford Vision brings together services, organisations and communities to help create an improved quality of life for people in the district. As the local strategic partnership (LSP) for Bradford District, we facilitate partnership working between public, private, voluntary and community sector partners at a local level.
  • Bradford 2020 Vision - The Bradford District 2020 Vision provides a framework to promote and improve the social, economic and environmental well-being of present and future generations. It sets out the direction of travel for the District, the Council, other public agencies, businesses, voluntary organisations and the public. The 2020 Vision was first launched in 2000, following extensive consultation, in response to the Local Government Act 2000.

Refugees and Asylum seekers

  • Bradford Action for Refugees - Bradford Action for Refugees was established in 1992 and is providing a valuable advice service for asylum seekers and refugees in the Bradford District.

Regeneration

  • Airedale Partnership - The Partnership, led by the private sector and with the full backing of Bradford Council and Yorkshire Forward, is a regeneration initiative supporting the growth and renaissance of the local economy.
  • Bradford Centre Regeneration - Their pricipal aim is to engage the public and private sectors in a sustainable regeneration stratergy. Set up in 2003, the Company is charged with delivering the physical regeneration of Bradford City Centre.  They work closely alongside the regional development agency Yorkshire Forward and Bradford Metropolitan District Council to make this ambitious goal a reality.
  • Invest in Bradford - In recent years Bradford has become an investment location of choice for many national and international companies. Invest in Bradford partnership is to provide any business, whether an established company or a new investor, with co-ordinated service to support their business activity in Bradford and District.
  • Urban Splash - is the developer behind the UK's most exciting urban regeneration projects.

Voluntary Organisations

  • Acorn Video - Acorn Video (Bfd) Ltd. was founded in 1983 to provide video services for the Voluntary, Statutory and Charity sectors in Bradford District.
  • Artworks Creative Communities - Artworks develops and delivers arts projects for the people of Bradford. A social enterprise and registered charity working with professional artists, Artworks use all art forms from dance, drama and interior design to rap, illustration, film-making and digital art. Through the arts they inspire and create new beginnings; giving hope and purpose to all. 
  • BCEP - Bradford Community Environment Project. 
  • BCSP - Bradford Community Statistics Project.
  • Bingley Voluntary Action - (B.V.A.) is an independent Voluntary Organisation and Registered Charity, and a Company Limited by Guarantee, managed by a voluntary Board of Directors. B.V.A. serves the community in the many ways. Through research, and liaison work, B.V.A. aims to identify and respond to local need, by helping the community to develop local solutions to meet that need, in partnership with all local statutory organisations. B.V.A. acts as a local development agency in promoting local voluntary action. 
  • Bradford Community and Voluntary Service - CVS (formerly Bradford Council for Voluntary Service) is an umbrella body for voluntary organisations in Bradford. Their role is to develop, support, promote and represent the interests of the voluntary and community sector.
  • Bradford Community and Voluntary Service - Briefing Bradford page. Briefing Bradford is the newsletter of the 5 CVSs in the District (and, from April 2007, is produced in partnership with BISON - Bradford Infrastructure Support Organisations Network). It is published 8-10 times in each 12-month period (8 issues planned for 2007-08). It covers a wide range of topics, with regular sections on news for Bradford's voluntary sector, funding information, training, health, local VCS job adverts, new initiatives and details of useful information sources.

  • My Manningham - Produced by Manningham Means Business: A group of Manningham business people helping to make Manningham pleasant and prosperous for everyone who lives, works or plays there.
