What is the Diversity Exchange?

The Diversity Exchange supports creative and innovative work to build better connections between different communities in the Bradford District. The aim of the Diversity Exchange is to create a District which is better able to deal with difference

The Diversity Exchange concept emerged from the Ouseley Report and was developed as part of Bradford Vision’s Community Cohesion Delivery plan. The Diversity Exchange spent 3 years hosted by Bradford Vision until it launched as an independent project in April 2007.

The Diversity Exchange aims to act as a District-wide centre of excellence and expertise on issues of diversity and dialogue. We are not engaged in direct delivery but support organisations in their delivery of work to communities.

The challenges central to the Diversity Exchange are:

  • Clashing of world views within and between communities
  • Clashing of values and beliefs
  • How the District deals with difference
  • How we agree what’s good enough and what a baseline to achieve community cohesion might be
  • The need to create culture of open and honest debate
